A long time coming..!
Hello there good people, it’s been a while hasn’t it?
TLDR; I never stopped working on the game, though I have been very busy. This update contains some improvements, and some teases on the new things to come.
What have I been up to?
As far as my personal situation goes, it’s been a lot; multiple projects of various sizes, studying at 200%, walking the puppy and trying to make ends meet money wise - and of course working on Fail Fail Succeed. In the spirit of the project's theme, I am also going to be honest and admit that I have struggled with confidence and my mental health, which has kept me from wanting to post updates.
What’s happening with the project?
That said, the project hasn’t stalled! To begin with, it’s gone through some serious rework - almost all scripts have been rewritten from the bottom up multiple times. This has been done in the name of making the game more predictable, while also stemming from my knowledge of coding improving as I go along.
While this has been time consuming, and perhaps a little unrewarding at times (considering progress then isn’t always super apparent) it’s been a great learning experience and in hindsight I do not regret spending this time on it.
What’s new?
- Readability / accessibility - new sprites to help distinguish game elements.
- Levels - A few more levels
- Progression - Progression is now a thing, including the possibility of adjusting the order you play the levels.
- Tutorial - A first pass at a tutorial implemented.
- Story - The goal isn’t to make this a story driven game, but the basic building blocks for how the story will be told has been implemented.
What’s next?
I am not ready to announce my upcoming plans for the game, but the production will continue, and you can expect another update with some more content soon!
So until next time, myself and Eira wish you the best!
